A fabulous mid 20th Century portrait oil painting on board of a female, sitting in a floral armchair. The painting is framed in a bleached wood frame and is signed with the artists initials. There is a tiny bit of paint loss to her dress on the front.
The sitter very much reminds me of the textile designer Celia Birtwell who was famously painted by her friend David Hockney in the 1970's with her husband Ossie Clark and their cat Percy. She has very similar hair and the pattern on the chair she's sitting in is a very similar design to one she would have designed.
Measurements are 50cm W x 60cm H.
