A rare and whimsical antique Victorian staffordshire pottery Jackfield black hen tureen on white nest.
Circa 1860 these quirky dishes have been used to sroe eggs on dresseers and work tops in country cottages and houses or used simply as decorative objects.
The hen has the original hand painted white polka dots on her back and gilding on her head and wattle.
There is an historic small crack on the back of her tail feathers which is shown in close up but she is in otherwise good used conditon.
Measurements are 20cm L x 19cm W x 22cm H.
