A French antique Napoleon III wooden shell covered souvenir box with key.

The box has signs of wear and tear where shells have been lost over the years. The lid is covered in large antique shells and the sides have a finer decoration.

The box still has it's brass key, although the locking mechanism is a little hit and miss, so more decorative than practical. These Victorian era shell boxes are rarer than the 20th Century versions. The price of this one is consistent with the loss of shells around the edge.

Measurements are 19cm L x 12cm W x 6cm H.
