A Mid 20th Century oil on canvas portrait of a female sitter in brown tones.
The painting is believed to be by Pamela Spencer, the niece of Sir Stanley Spencer. It was bought together as a lot in Oxford with some of her signed works and the style of the paintings were all by the same artist. I have acquired three of the portraits and 2 of them are currently listed on my website.
Pamela Mary Spencer (1924–2012) was a British artist, painter, and niece of renowned artists Sir Stanley Spencer RA and Gilbert Spencer RA. Trained at St Martin’s School of Art (1945–51), she exhibited at the Royal Academy and with the New English Art Club. Her work, often influenced by Gilbert, included landscapes and portraits.
Measurements for this portrait are 30cm Square.
